At a live press conference on July 1, 2020, Governor Newsom Ordered the closure of Orange County bars, restaurants and various other business sectors to slow community transmission of COVID-19 for a minimum of three weeks. The Governor and the State Department of Public health also recommended that counties with mandatory closures cancel fireworks shows this weekend.

As a result, in order to adhere to the State and County orders for the protection of public health, the City of Tustin has cancelled the live-stream fireworks component of its 2020 July 4th celebration.  The fireworks display had been planned to launch from Tustin High School for residents to view from their homes or via a live-stream video in order to comply with State orders prohibiting mass gatherings.

The California Department of Public Health, Office of Public Affairs issued a News Release regarding the Governor’s actions which can be found here: News Release

"We are disappointed to announce that due to the alarming increase of COVID-19 cases and the Governor’s recommendation, the live-stream fireworks display component of the City of Tustin’s 4th of July celebration will not take place this year," stated Mayor Dr. Allan Bernstein. "We hope that everyone in Tustin enjoys a safe and meaningful Independence Day."

In honor of July 4th, residents are encouraged to visit Tustin4thofJuly.com on July 4th to hear music and view patriotic messages from the Tustin City Council, community representatives, American Legion Post 227 and Tustin veterans.
