At its regularly scheduled meeting on April 16, the Tustin City Council unanimously appointed Matthew S. West to the position of City Manager, effective immediately.
Matt West stepped into the Acting City Manager role in February after the retirement of former City Manager, Jeffrey Parker. Prior to taking on the Acting City Manager position, Matt was the City’s Assistant City Manager.
“Good things are happening in Tustin and we have a tremendous management team in place that makes it possible,” said Mayor Charles E. “Chuck” Puckett. “Selecting Matt as our next City Manager is the best and most logical choice we can make to ensure success in Tustin’s development as we move forward with key projects and initiatives.”
Matt has been working in the public sector for over 20 years – 18 of those with the City of Tustin in various positions within the departments of Planning, Redevelopment, Economic Development, Finance, and City Management. Prior to Tustin, he served the cities of San Juan Capistrano and Upland, Mono County, and in advanced planning functions for the Willdan Group, Inc.
“I’m honored the Tustin City Council has chosen me to manage the operation of such an amazing city,” stated West. “I look forward to continuing to serve the Council and the Tustin community.”
Tustin has a Council-Manager form of government where the City Manager directly provides policy-oriented and management support to the City Council.
