Service Questions and Assistance

The City of Tustin contracts with CR&R Incorporated for trash and recycling services throughout the community.  You can reach CR&R's Customer Service at (714) 372-8272 for assistance with:

  • Establishing service
  • Change of address
  • Cart replacement
  • Bulky item pickups
  • Temporary bins
  • Missed pickups

Organics Recycling 

As required by state law, SB 1383, the City of Tustin implemented an organic recycling program in partnership with CR&R. Since July 1, 2021, Tustin residents can recycle food scraps by placing them in their green cart. Historically, this cart has been used for yard trimmings only.  CR&R takes all organic material collected to their composting facility to be turned into soil amendment.  

Every residential property was provided with a Kitchen Food Scrap Container.  This small pail can be used for the collection of food scraps while prepping meals and plate scrapings. Paper towels and napkins can also be placed in this container.   

This program was implemented to ensure all residents comply with Senate Bill 1383, which requires all CA residents and businesses to recycle organic materials.  For more information on this program, please visit CR&R's webpage dedicated to Tustin residential services.  CR&R has also created the How-To video below.  

On Your Collection Day

On collection day, please remember the following:

  • Carts should be placed at curbside no later than 7 a.m. on collection day
  • Items not in carts will not be collected
  • Place carts side-by-side approximately 1 foot apart and at least 3 feet from any obstruction. (i.e., ire hydrant/trees)
  • Place your carts with the handles and wheels facing away from the street
  • Please remove your carts from the curbside area within 24 hours after service

Cart Colors

Cart colors correspond with certain waste. Please remember the following cart colors:

  • Blue: Recyclables
  • Green:  Yard trimmings and food waste
  • Black: Trash
