About the Tustin Legacy Project

Tustin Legacy is more than a development project; it is the culmination of years of history and pride, evolved into a space designed to embrace Tustin’s future. Spanning approximately 1,600 acres of land in the City of Tustin and 95 acres in the City of Irvine, Tustin Legacy thoughtfully entwines residential and commercial spaces, parks, outdoor recreation and educational institutions to provide an enhanced community experience. The Tustin Legacy Specific Plan serves as the “blueprint” guiding Tustin Legacy land use, aiming to preserve the location’s rich history while introducing modern infrastructure and amenities reflective of a shared community vision.

Summary of the Local Reuse Authority (LRA) Meeting and Open House on August 19

In an effort to educate the public and offer transparency on Tustin Legacy development updates, City Council invited Tustin residents to attend the LRA) Meeting and Open House on Aug. 19. More than 110 residents dove deep into the timeline of MCAS Tustin during a presentation from George Schlossberg, a base closure expert. Development partners shared more project updates and community members had the chance to speak with them during the open house.

Summary of the Community Open House on May 13

To mark the beginning of a months-long engagement process, the City hosted its first community open house on Tuesday, May 13, at The Annex at Tustin Legacy. The meeting offered an informative environment where community members could learn about the future of the Tustin Legacy project and the historic Tustin Hangars.

The community meeting goals were focused on:

  • Raising awareness of the current vision, plans and assumptions for development around the hangar sites.
  • Ensuring alignment between the City’s plans and the community’s needs, values and priorities.
  • Sharing the opportunities and constraints that will help shape what’s possible moving forward.
