Biography

PUBLIC LIFE

Mayor Austin Lumbard, elected to City Council in 2018 and elected as Mayor in 2022, was born and raised in Orange County and is a long-time Tustin resident.  His priorities while on City Council include:

  • Public Safety 
  • Balanced Development 
  • Fiscal Strength  
  • Promoting Tustin's unique character

Mayor Lumbard has served the community in a variety of roles.  He currently represents Tustin on the Orange County Fire Authority and the Foothill/Eastern Transportation Corridor Agencies, and is an alternate representative to the Orange County Sanitation District, the Water Advisory Committee of Orange County, and the Orange County Council of Governments (OCCOG) for District 17.  Additionally, Mayor Lumbard was selected in 2019 by the City Selection Committee to serve a four-year term (ending May 2023) on the Airport Land Use Commission for Orange County.  Mayor Lumbard has also served on the Newport Bay Watershed Executive Committee and the Santa Ana River Flood Protection Agency.

Prior to being elected to City Council, Mayor Lumbard served six years on Tustin’s Planning Commission, twice as Commission Chair.  He also previously served for many years as a reserve deputy with the Orange County Sheriff’s Department.  This experience helped shape his passion for keeping all Tustin residents safe.


PERSONAL LIFE

When not at City Hall, Mayor Lumbard works as an attorney and contract specialist for a global engineering and construction company.  

Mayor Austin Lumbard and his wife are the proud parents of five young children. 


EDUCATION

Mayor Lumbard holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration from California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo, a law degree from Indiana University Maurer School of Law, and is a graduate of the Orange County Bar Association College of Trial Advocacy.
