Beginning Tuesday, September 29, 2020, and lasting through Friday, October 2, 2020, and longer should temperatures sustain 95 degrees or higher, the Tustin Area Senior Center will be open from 10 am – 5 pm, the warmest hours of the day, as a respite area from the heat.
The public, seniors especially, are invited to relax at the center to cool down. Water will be made available. No special activities are planned, but those seeking respite from the heat are welcome to sit in the auditorium and enjoy a book or magazine, socialize, or watch a movie. In accordance with State and County guidelines related to COVID-19, participants will be required to wear a mask/face covering at all times and maintain a six-foot distance from other attendees.
The Senior Citizen Heat Advisory program, administered by the City of Tustin’s Parks and Recreation Services Department, is employed when the second consecutive day of temperatures attains 95 degrees or a Heat Index of 95 degrees is reached or forecasted. Immediately upon the declaration of this advisory, the program will open.
