Special Operations Commander

Lieutenant Birozy serves as the Special Operations Division Commander, accountable for investigative matters within the City.

Units

The Special Operations Division is comprised of a variety of specialized units with unique responsibilities, dedicated to serving the needs of the community. The Special Operations Division covers the entire City of Tustin.

Units assigned to the Special Operations Division are:

  • Criminal Investigations Unit
  • School Resource Officer
  • Crime Analysis Unit
  • OCATT (Orange County Auto Theft Task Force)
  • SRT (Special Response Team)

Community Oriented Policing Model

All of these units are focused on supporting the community oriented policing model and problem solving initiatives Crime and Traffic Analysis and Policing Strategies (CTAPS) undertaken by the Police Department. Each unit is tasked with meeting their specific goals and duties with the highest level of professionalism and ethical commitment to the community members of Tustin.

Assignments

All assignments under the Special Operations Division are considered unique and fall outside the realm of normal patrol duties. Detectives working in the Special Operations Division receive specialized training and develop a high level of proficiency and expertise for their particular assignment.
