The current Tustin City Council is comprised of five members serving at-large. On November 1, 2021, the City Council adopted Ordinance No. 1518, implementing by-district elections of four Council Members, establishing election of a Mayor at-large, creating the boundary lines for each of the four districts, and determining election sequencing.
The next General Municipal Election will be held on Tuesday, November 8, 2022 for the election of a Council Member in District 3 and an at-large Mayor, each for a 4-year term.
To be eligible to run for City Council, candidates must reside within their respective district in the City of Tustin or within the City of Tustin boundaries for the at-large Mayor position and be a registered voter at the time nomination papers are issued. Interested residents must make an appointment with the City Clerk to receive and submit campaign documents during the Nomination Period beginning July 18 and ending on August 12, 2022. The Nomination Period will be extended August 17, 2022 at 5:00 p.m., if an incumbent fails to file nomination papers by the August 12 deadline.
